Abstract

We find ourselves at a turning point, a moment of profound change. On one hand, the crisis has rendered the market stagnant for contemporary art, placing many artists in a survival state; on the other hand, it has awakened the young consumer’s interest for brands and products with a cultural content in a quest for a new way of social affirmation. It is through this conscience of the problematics/opportunities announced by this new reality that the need for developing the thesis project presented to you: the creation of a unique and exclusive business concept in Portugal, that intends to operate in a parallel market to the contemporary art market by merging the interests of young artists and the needs of young consumers. ArtChive is a project that places at the public’s disposal for the first time studies by artists which were hidden until now, and which have never been commercialized. This project will give young artists a chance to commercialize their work, which has been archived through time, helping it gain value by becoming a collection of exclusive pieces for young consumers, who look for accessible and original ways to give their homes a personality.
