Captação e formação de públicos no teatro: O projeto Primeira Vez

Abstract

The importance of public, both in culture and in cultural institutions has been increasingly spoken and its reach crucial. Their development, the problem of their attraction and their formation began to be part of the country's cultural policies in the 1980s.. In this dissertation, and align this theme to the theatre, is taken as object the program “Primeira Vez” in progress at the Teatro Nacional Dona Maria II. Under the assumption that the theatre is more accessible than its potential audiences thinks, Ana Pereira and Nádia Sales Grade, created the project “Primeira Vez” to provide the opportunity for the non-effective public to attend a play for the first time. This dissertation characterises cultural audiences, with a special focus on theatre, while the development of "Primeira Vez" is closely followed through field observation, interviews with the coordinator Ana Pereira, analysis of statistical data and documentation of other similar projects. The project Primeira Vez has succeeded in bringing, in two seasons, more than two hundred new people to the Teatro Nacional Dona Maria II.
