Abstract

The Bronze Age is one of the most significant moments of the History of Villena and its region. During a millennium (2200-1200 cal BC), a series of transformations took place in this territory that gave rise to one of the most intense social and economic developments of Peninsular prehistory. One of the most characteristic elements of this period was the appearance of an unusual amount of gold objects that, under different forms and functions, were used by incipient social elites to define and justify new social relations.
