Acerca del seseo cartagenero

Abstract

Seseo is a phonological variation of the sibilant system of Spanish, which occurs especially in certain southern areas of the Iberian Peninsula. Cartagena and its region is one of the areas where this linguistic feature is characteristic; however, despite its recognized antiquity of centuries, some controversy still persists about its original root. This work investigates the historical aspects that originated the phenomenon and tries to provide new evidence to help clarify its roots.
