El vidrio romano en el Conventus Carthaginiensis: comercio y producción

Abstract

Nuestro principal objetivo es otorgar al vidrio antiguo, en este caso nos centramos en el recipiente durante época romana, el lugar que merece en la investigación arqueológica, pues este material, cuya fragilidad y habitual reciclado dificulta en gran medida su estudio, ha sido, tradicionalmente, el gran olvidado en los estudios científicos de nuestro país. En este trabajo se han incluido diversos yacimientos que han proporcionado interesantes conjuntos que cubren una amplia cronología centrada entre los siglos I al VII d.C., lo que permite llevar a cabo la valoración de este tipo de recipiente desde que comienza a registrarse en esta zona, a través de unos escasos testimonios, hasta que su uso se generaliza a partir de la segunda década del siglo I d.C. La evolución de esta artesanía, contemplada a través de los avances tecnológicos, los cambios en la coloración o las decoraciones de moda en cada momento, son puntos a tratar que nos permiten establecer los diferentes repertorios que se irán utilizando en cada momento, referencia clave para el futuro investigador. Igualmente, se pretende analizar la procedencia de las diferentes producciones registradas, a fin de determinar su importación o producción local, lo que nos lleva a valorar las relaciones comerciales de cada periodo pero también aproximarnos al desarrollo de esta artesanía en Hispania.
