Learning a foreign language is a very complex process, and it is difficult because it is influenced by a lot of elements. During the foreign language learning process, trying to reproduce target language grammar rules, learners develop their own version of grammar, a transitional competence, that Selinker calls “interlanguage ”, which can lead to fossilized errors. Students’ mother tongue and the other foreign languages they know, influence the learning process and can cause errors and mistake at any linguistic level (morphology, syntax, phonology, etc.). In this article we are going to look at the lexical errors that occur in Italian classes of Spanish.
