The forum and the basilica of Segóbriga were occupied between V and VII centuries by a series of poor-quality buildings, erected with reused materials from the Roman forum and basilica. These buildings were standing when Segóbriga became Visigothic episcopate, and they are contemporary of the basilica located outside the walls and the necropolis located nearby. After the Arab occupation of the region, Segóbriga became dependent on the strength of Uclés and, after the Christian reconquest, the population was gradually moved to the site now occupied by the modern town of Saelices, where there were springs that had supplied the ancient city.
