El Museo Arqueológico José María Soler, Villena (Alicante). Memoria de una larga etapa (1957-2019)

Abstract

This work reveals the history of the José María Soler Archaeological Museum, from its opening in 1957 and its official creation ten years later, until its closure in 2019 due to transfer to new facilities. This has been mainly due to the great increase in collections and the need to adapt the permanent exhibition to the new museographic and museological criteria. It will also show the building evolution of the dependencies located in the Villena Municipal Palace and the trajectory developed by the institution that has resulted in the creation of a new institution dedicated to the conservation and study of the historical heritage of Villena.
