Uno de los principales objetivos de Justiniano fue la unidad religiosa. Para ello, desde la posición que le ofrecía su Autoridad, dispuso diversos intentos de unificación, especialmente para atraer a la doctrina monofisita a la ortodoxia calcedonense. En ello, sin duda, jugó un papel importante la influencia de la Emperatriz Teodora, cuyo anhelo fue colocar a destacados miembros monofisitas en las principales instancias del poder eclesiástico.
One of Justinian's main objectives was the religious unity. To do this, settled in the position his Authority gave him, he made many attempts of unification, especially to attract the Monophysite doctrine to the Chalcedonian orthodoxy. Undoubtedly, the influence of the Empress Theodora played an important role in this task, who desired to place prominent monophysite members in the main instances of ecclesiastical power.
