The study of tyranny and tyrannicide enjoys a long tradition. One of the most interesting episodes took place in France at the end of the sixteenth century. Numerous works appeared then, which fixed the concept of tyrant and proposed various ways of taking tyranny on. But such manifestations also took other more neglected but equally interesting forms, for example, lampoons, engravings, sermons, institutional decrees and popular action, to all of which the Catholic League resorted in order to develop its most radical arguments. This study aims to deepen our knowledge of those manifestations.
