La presencia del absurdo en el Teatro Español

Abstract

Esta investigación va a centrarse en estudiar la presencia del Teatro del Absurdo en el panorama dramático español, más concretamente en la generación conocida como Nuevo Teatro Español. Tras al canon establecido por Martin Esslin en los años 60, la estética que el crítico húngaro definió bajo el nombre de Teatro del Absurdo ha tenido una influencia determinante en la configuración del teatro posterior. Los estudios al respecto han permitido establecer que el Absurdo estuvo presente en el teatro de distintos países europeos, en Estados Unidos o en Hispanoamérica. No obstante, en España la materia parece no haber despertado el mismo interés, ya que, más allá de Fernando Arrabal y Manuel de Pedrolo -los dos nombres españoles que Esslin incluye en su estudio-, el Teatro del Absurdo no ha contado con una investigación aislada, que se centre en conocer si el Teatro del Absurdo ha tenido una presencia significativa en España. Por esta razón, era necesario dedicarle una investigación particular al hecho de la entrada del Teatro del Absurdo en el panorama dramático español, para dilucidar, de esta forma, una cuestión aún sin resolver: ¿se puede hablar de un Teatro del Absurdo español?
