The analysis of the content of broadsides published until 1516 reveals that in a first stage (until 1500), publicity documents emanated from the Court were mainly printed, and always linked to the poetical tradition of songbook and to the high cultural standard, together with religious literature, often also related to the courtly circles more than to religious orders. After this year, the courtly and minstrelesque romancero emerges; traditional ballads, with a sole exception, are only interesting when they are glossed, continued or imitated by courtly poets. Traditional poetry, in fact, does not appear. In this second stage, the appearance of a miracle broadside can also be noticed; another of religious theme, but which foreshadows the equivocal treatment that thereafter the practice of sin will receive, and a third one with the account of a macabre event. It is the first emergency of the habitual contents of the nascent popular literature.

El análisis del contenido de lo pliegos publicados antes de 1516 revela que en una primera etapa (hasta 1500) dominaron los textos emanados de la corte y la poesía de cancionero del nivel estilístico más elevado, flanqueada por la literatura religiosa, a menudo relacionada con la Corte o, en su caso, con las órdenes. Después emerge el romancero cortés y juglaresco pero los romances de tipo tradicional sólo interesaban como pie de glosas por poetas cortesanos. La lírica tradicional no aparece. En este segimdo período encontramos también un pliego milagrero, otro con tema religioso, pero susceptible de interpretación morbosa y equívoca, y un tercero con el relato de un suceso macabro. Este será el origen de la literatura popular impresa en los siglos siguientes.
