Floods are the most ImportEuit natural risk in the world. Frequerrtly engineering works are not enough to solve the problem. When hydraulic structures fail or they can not minimise negative impacts of floods, other measures are necessaries. Risk cartography is a powerful tool to environmental planning. This paper presents the methodology to elabórate the risk map of the floodplain of River Arga (Navarra, Spaín). Methodok)gy includes statistical, hydrok)gical, hydraulic, and geomorphological tools. Some spatial analyses have Iseen done using Geographic Information Systems.
