A bronze lampstand with a representation of Attis from the Fondation Gandur in Geneva is usually identified as a statuette of Alexander Helios, the second son of Cleopatra. After analysing the reasons for such identification, we conclude from the iconographic study that it is indeed the beloved shepherd of Cybele. The possible origins of the model are traced, as well as the meaning of Attis in a lampstand. Finally, it is suggested a possible reason why in the art market one might prefer to identify the figure as Alexander Helios rather than Attis.
