Abstract

Throughout this work we have developed a proposed field digital repository cultural in Andalusia, to the institutions of the Autonomous Administration dependent on the Education, Culture and Sports Regional Government. The pertinence of this project arises from the low diffusion that many of the Andalusian Goverment’s digital cultural assets now have Internet, which led to consider the need for the creation and implementation of an unified platform access to the Andalusia common cultural heritage. The methodological development of the project which has been structured in different phases , starting with meeting the needs in managing digital cultural assets in Andalusia and check specific and partial solutions now underway within Cultural Regional Government. Also, we have analyzed the different solutions offered on the Internet for digital cultural assets management by regional governments in Spain, also what their management policies and different approaches given. In the practical proposal of digital repository, detailing the various aspects and specifications that have been used for this conforms repository metadata standards and harvester protocols, as well as interoperability mechanisms necessary to achieve the exchange of digital content and their metadata. The repository management model allows triple facet, on one hand be the central repository of the Cultural Regional Government, on the other hand federate existing Andalusian´s cultural repositories running at once, as a service provider for harvesting and offering repositories a unique search engine for all digital collections, as a data provider adding these digital resources to the Spanish digital library, Hispania, and through this to the European digital library Europeana. The institutional repository provides allows open access, free and open digital collections, following the Europeana´s policy of public domain for public property. Other key aspects of this repository are diffusion on the web digital cultural collections through a unified portal access, using the repositories management software DSpace, also as the preservation in time of these digital assets to ensure their accessibility.
