Abstract

_________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________ SPECT is a non-invasive diagnostic imaging technique, with clinical application in oncology, cardiology and neurology among other areas. In the Medical Image Laboratory at Hospital General Universitario Gregorio Marañón a system denominated FSPECT is being developed which has been designed to apply this technique to small laboratory animals. The objective of this work is the implementation of a software tool for the calibration of the FSPECT system. The idea is to provide the user with a simple interface to acquire calibration data and to generate the calibration files required for the appropriate usage of this system. The application implemented allows the user to acquire calibration data and to obtain calibration files for three differentiated parts of the FSPECT. These are: Data acquisition electronics, detector elements and mechanical system (geometry errors due to mechanics tolerances). Each one of the correction stages calibration data are acquired, following predefined procedures and processed with the developed application to obtain correction files, which will be applied to the subsequently acquired data.
