Abstract

ABSTRACT The pumping capacity of riverbank filtration using radial collector wells at the Geum, Yeongsan, Seomjin, and Nakdongrivers was evaluated using Milojevic’s equation. Assessment of the radial collector wells’ pumping capacity in riverbankfiltration was carried out using a case study in which one set of collector wells is installed in the watershed of each river.Nakdong River was evaluated to have the highest pumping capacity for riverbank filtration. The areas capable ofproducing over 10,000 m 3 per day were found mostly in the Nakdong River. Key words :Riverbank filtration, Radial collector well, Milojevic’s equation 1. 서론 일반적으로 지하수는 지표수보다 수질이 양호하며, 연중일정한 수온을 유지하고 있어 음용수 및 생활용수로 널리활용되고 있다. 하지만 지하수는 양이 제한적으로 대부분의 생활 및 산업 용수는 여전히 지표수에 의존하고 있다.그러나 지표수의 직접 취수는 돌발적인 오염에 취약할 뿐아니라, 경제가 성장함에 따라 늘어나는 오염으로 인하여,안정적 용수 공급이 위협받고 있다. 뿐만 아니라 늘어나는 정수 비용은 고스란히 소비자의 몫으로 돌아오고 있는실정이다. 이런 문제로 인하여 최근 낙동강 유역의 몇몇지자체들은 취수원의 다변화 측면에서 강변여과수를 통한간접 취수방안을 모색하고 있다(오세형 외, 2012).강변여과수 방식은 하천 인접에서 정호의 양수를 통해자연지층을 통과한 하천수와 지하수를 간접적으로 취수하는(김형수 외, 1999) 방식으로 홍수기와 갈수기에 관계없이 연중 일정한 수량/수질 확보 가능하며, 지표수의 돌발적 수질오염 사고에 충격부하 저감으로 능동적 대처가 가능, 정수공정이 단순하여 정수비용 절감, 소독부산물 감소로 정수장의 효율적/경제적 운영이 가능하다는 장점을 지니고 있다(한국수자원공사, 2008). 근대적 의미의 강변여과수 활용은 1810년 영국의 글래스고(Glasgow) 수도국에서 처음으로 도입하였고(경기개발연구원, 2008; 한국수자원공사, 2008)), 강변여과수 취수는 독일, 미국 등에서 이미 100여 년 전부터 활용 되고 있다(이은희 외, 2010).국내의 경우 현재 창원시 대산면에서 창원시 강변여과수2단계 개발 사업이 63,000 m
