The Spanish Civil War in recent years has returned to the center of the historiographical debate after a long period of almost total neglect. A new reflection on this theme by Italian, English and Spanish historians has enabled an innovative vi-sion of the Iberian conflict, thanks to a comparative perspective on the problem. It remains indispensable in dealing with these studies, the exposure of the eternal debate between scholars about the framework of the Franco fascism as "real" or if it should instead be placed between the so-called "generic fascism" that arose in Europe since the thirties.
