
En el XXVII Congreso de Americanistas de Lima, 1939. M.T. Mejía Xesspe da a conocer y describe por vez primera los Ceques o Caminos Ceremoniales de Palpa y Nazca que él descubriera en 1927 (Mejía Xesspe 1942). En 1947 Paul Kosok y María Reiche publican en la revista "Natural History" un excelente artículo con fotos aéreas y explicación sobre el origen astronómico de estas rayas y fi guras asociadas. La opinión de H. Horkheimer (1947) representa otra perspectiva sobre la utilización de esas líneas; y Rossel Castro (1958), una visión mixta.
