Análisis de la Heterogeneidad Estructural de las Regiones de Costa Rica

Abstract

Este trabajo aborda la heterogeneidad estructural de Costa Rica a partir del estudio de las regiones de planificación y sus cantones por medio de diferentes variables e indicadores. Se aprecia con contundencia la existencia, aumento y profundización de ese fenómeno en el territorio, producto de la apertura comercial, el nuevo papel del Estado en la Economía y la dinámica propia, lo que lleva a falta de oportunidades, poco desarrollo tecnológico y formación, ausencia de infraestructura suficiente y baja calidad de los empleos. Profundiza la desigualdad territorial el papel de las actividades extractivas como la piña, banano y otros cultivos que pese a tener altos contenidos tecnológicos no generan encadenamientos ni empleos de calidad. Las soluciones a esta problemática pasan por acciones de política pública, integrando a la sociedad civil, como organizaciones de desarrollo integral, cámaras empresariales y el fortalecimiento de las instituciones locales para apoyar planes y programas de desarrollo regional.
