Azor

Abstract

In June 2016, a salvage excavation was conducted in Azor (Permit No. A-7745; map ref. 181673/658951), prior to construction of a residential building. The excavation, carried out on behalf of the Israel Antiquities Authority and partially funded by the owners of the plot, was directed by I. Elad. V. Eshed wrote the physical anthropology report, Y. Asscher and Y. Maor studied the metal bowl and A. Golani studied the beads. The excavation yielded graves dating from Iron Age IB and IIA and scant remains from the Abbasid period.
