Abstract

In July 2016, a community outreach excavation was conductedin the Jerusalem Forest (Permit No. A-7720; map ref. 215679-771/631242-53; Fig. 1). The excavation, undertaken on behalf of the Israel Antiquities Authority and initiated by Mr. M. Leitner of the Ẕippori Center in the Jerusalem Forest, was conducted by D. Tanami, with the assistance of N. Nehama (administration), I.E. Delerson, V. Essman and Y. Shmidov (surveying and drafting), D. Ben Ami, D. Varga, A. Tendler, and Y. Zelinger (consultation and scientific guidance), H. Shalev and H. Neugeboren (IAA Jerusalem District Educational Center), A. Peretz (field photography), and Y. Barshak (computing). The excavation was carried out by volunteers from environmental groups, trekking groups and holiday camps, families from Jerusalem and the vicinity, youths from the Alliance Israélite Universelle School for the Deaf, and students from abroad participating in the Hadassah Ein Kerem Public Health Program.
