In June-July 2009 and September 2014-January 2015, excavations were conducted at the site of the Roman mosaic in Lod, on Ha-Halutz, Yasmin and Struma Streets in the Newe Yaraq neighborhood, west of Highway 40 and Ginnaton Junction, and several hundred meters south of Tel Lod (Permit Nos. A-5685, A-7096; map ref. 19099/65140), prior to the construction of a visitors center. The excavations, undertaken on behalf of the Israel Antiquities Authority and financed by the Shelby White and Leon Levy Foundation, were directed by M. Avissar and A.
