Abstract

During February 2010, a salvage excavation was conducted at 'En Shulamit in the 'En Gedi Nature Reserve (Permit No. A-5855; map ref. 236989-7069/597446-500), prior to renewing the catchment pipes of the spring. The excavation, undertaken on behalf of the Israel Antiquities Authority and underwritten by the Nature and Parks Authority, was directed by O. Shmueli, with the assistance of Y. El-'Amor (administration), B. Antin, N. Zak and A. Hajian (surveying and drafting), E. Aladjem (GIS), A. Peretz (field photography), P. Fabian (pottery dating) and I. Lidsky-Reznikov (pottery drawing). Thanks to the Nature and Parks Authority staff, D. Greenbaum, S. 'Azazme, T. Tsuk, Y. Kazas and E. Sasson, to the staff of the water department of Qibbuz 'En Gedi, Y. Roth and A. Shahal, and also to G. Hadas, Y. Haimi, D. Nachlieli and A. Shahar.
