Trial excavations were conducted in November-December 1998 on the corner of Herzl and Weizmann Sts. in the northeastern part of Azor (Permit No. A-2970; Map ref. NIG 18172-9/65909-15; OIG 13172-9/15909-15;'Atiqot 38: Plan 1:37). The excavation, on behalf of the Antiquities Authority, was directed by E.C.M. van den Brink, with the assistance of V. Essman and V. Pirsky (surveying), Y. Rahamim (administration), T. Sagiv (photography) and E. Belashov (drafting).
