During November-December 2004, a salvage excavation was conducted in the Newe Yaraq neighborhood of Lod (Permit No. A-4294; map ref. 1905-8/6516-8), after ancient remains were discovered while installing a sewer line. The excavation, undertaken on behalf of the Israel Antiquities Authority and underwritten by the Loram Company, was directed by R. Lupu, with the assistance of E. Bachar (administration), V.
