Lebensform versus forma (dual) de vida

Abstract

Este trabajo se propone fijar las diferencias entre el concepto Lebensform como es usado por Spengler y la expresión “forma (dual) de vida” como viene a ser caracterizado por Ortega y Gasset. Aunque ambos se inscriban en el marco de una teoría de la cultura, las diferencias son profundas: según Spengler el concepto es subjetivo, está enmarcado en un proyecto monista. Según Ortega, una forma de vida considera elementos objetivos de la cultura. Además, tiene un carácter plural en el que se inscribe el principio de diferenciación ya que toda cultura se diversifica debido a que los significados de las nociones originales comparten un contenido disímil. El segundo principio está expresado en términos holísticos, ya que las culturas se consideran como orbes cerrados hacia dentro de sí mismos, sistemas completos y herméticos, sin comunicación entre sí. Las culturas han de ser analizadas como un conjunto clausurado hacia dentro. Finalmente, el tercer principio se vincula con la pluralidad de formas humanas. Este punto de vista se opone al supuesto de homogeneidad cultural de Spengler.
