Telegram is not only a messaging application but also a home to digital poetry. This study employed qualitative content analysis, which examined lexical cohesion and themes in 30 Telegram poems from “Every Day Poems” (rebranded to “The Poet’s Sanctuary”), which is a Telegram channel for online poetry writers and poetry enthusiasts. The analysis showed that antonyms were more abundant than synonyms as lexical cohesive devices. However, the findings revealed that reiteration and collocation were the most prominent lexical cohesive devices. On the other hand, three poetic themes were identified, which can be called the 3R’s, including reflecting on life, remembering love, and recognizing sorrow. The most dominant theme in the Telegram poems is ‘reflecting on life,’ which highlights dreams, realization, existence, and value of life. This study suggests that Telegram poetry can be a promising avenue in the analysis of lexical cohesion and in the study of linguistics and literature as a whole. The presence of various lexical cohesive devices in Telegram poems has implications for their potential integration as pedagogical resources in English language teaching.
