Abstract

We now move to the next cluster of villages : Neura-o-Pequeno, Neura-O-Grande, Māndur or Dōṁgrī (the latter is actually an island on a hillock in the marshes of the Kumbhārjuvem canal that forms a part of the Māndur village), Āzōśī (Azossim) and Karmaḷi (Carambolim). These lie between the Kumbhārjuvem canal connecting the two rivers Zuari and Mandovi, and the hill range to the west, over which the rājbiḍi runs; they are the eastern flank of the belt of villages connecting Gopakāpaṭṭan to Old Goa. How much did they get into the vortex of the shifting political centres ?
