Abstract

Este trabajo evalúa preliminarmente la sustentabilidad a lo largo del Holoceno de un sistema de subsistencia basado en la caza de Lama guanicoe. Se plantea que dadas las condiciones de aislamiento biogeográfico las poblaciones de estos animales en las Sierras de Córdoba serían sensibles a la predación humana y que una estrategia de subsistencia basada en su captura no pudo sostenerse más allá del Holoceno Medio (6000-3000 AP). Para someter a prueba estas hipótesis se analizan las variaciones temporales en la abundancia taxonómica relativa, riqueza taxonómica, perfiles etarios y huellas de procesamiento en los conjuntos faunísticos de dos sitios ubicados en las pampas de altura de las Sierras de Córdoba: Arroyo El Gaucho 1 (Pampa de Achala), con una secuencia arqueológica que abarca desde el Holoceno Temprano hasta fines del Holoceno Medio, y Puesto La Esquina 1 (Pampa de Olaen), con ocupaciones agroalfareras datadas en la segunda mitad del Holoceno Tardío. Los resultados indican que la abundancia relativa de camélidos se reduce drásticamente a partir del Holoceno Medio, coincidentemente con un incremento en la diversidad de taxones aprovechados y en la intensidad de las huellas de procesamiento. Se interpreta que las poblaciones de L. guanicoe sufrieron serias fluctuaciones que podrían responder a la colonización del espacio serrano por grupos cazadores-recolectores.
