Modular arithmetic

Abstract

A new type a rithmetic obtained from a “clocklike” number system is called modular arithmetic. It may also be called finite number systems because these have only a specific number of numbers in the system. It is used for all machines with dials or with a finite number of numbers. “Scientists find it useful in t he study of atoms which have shells of electrons.” 1 The limited number of numbers in the entire system makes it relatively simple.
