Based upon a certain way of understanding the concept of biopolitics and its defining features, we have tried to analyze the fundamental characteristics of the forms of biopolitics orchestrated in the Nazi and Franco regimes. This interpretation has allowed us to develop a comparative view which shows the similarities and differences between the regimes, based upon a number of elements common to both. It provides us with both a new theory of fascist regimes and with certain elements that have, until now, been ignored in the debate about the nature of the Franco regime.
