</script>This work aimed to elaborate a didactic approach based on the CTS focus for high school from the jeans theme. In the subject of Chemistry, there were developed activities for the discussion and exposition of the theme, experimentation, research and debate in the classroom about the scientific, technological and social aspects of the jeans, with the study of the concept of the oxireduction reaction. The purpose was developed in two groups of the 2 nd year of high school in a school from Santa Maria – RS. The results show the importance of discussing moot points as the ones that involve the jeans production, as there were highlighted some students’ difficulties related to the chemical concepts. The limitations found for the development of a CTS approach at school are mainly related to the curricular structure and the teachers’ formation, results that signal the need of proximity and insertion of such perspective in the school.
