Abstract

The proposal: Critical reading supported by the skills of analysis and evaluation, was organized in a didactic sequence consisting of 10 sessions, where the critical comprehension of two texts was addressed: Oliver Button is a girl and Butterfly Ears. For this purpose, three phases were organized: foundation, development and closure. This graduate work is based on Margarita Sanchez's approaches regarding the thinking skills of analysis and evaluation and the procedures to develop these skills, as well as Daniel Cassany's approaches regarding Critical Reading, the ideas of the Reading and Writing Strengthening Plan, regarding the processes of learning and reading comprehension, and Isabel Solé's reading strategies. It was concluded that the development and use of analysis and evaluation skills strengthened the critical reading of 301 students because by appropriating these skills the student was able to describe, organize sequences, propose solutions to problems, decompose a text into each of its parts, compare, distinguish and verify information, make conscious choices and value judgments that empowered him/her to make a critical understanding and evaluation.
