The efficient use of water in any sector of human activity has become an increasingly important need in our daily lives, especially in arid and / or semi-arid regions where water resources have become increasingly scarce. In irrigated agriculture this concern becomes more relevant because globally, water for agriculture is the primary user of diverted water, reaching a proportion that exceeds 70–80% of the total water resources in the arid and semiarid zones (Fereres & Soriano, 2007).
