En la aplicación de la DDE, con el principio del doble efecto, se puede afirmar que, en bioética, en el área de salud, son lícitas algunas acciones con doble efecto: el efecto bueno buscado por el médico (u otro personal involucrado en el acto), y el efecto malo, que se produce naturalmente con ese efecto sin que sea buscado por sí mismo.
