Abstract

La prevención del abandono de los estudios superiores constituye uno de los retos más importantes de la política universitaria actual. El análisis que se presenta en este artículo forma parte de la investigación Trayectorias de abandono, persistencia y graduación en Ciencias Sociales (EDU2012-31568). Específicamente, se analiza el proceso que ha seguido una cohorte de estudiantes de Administración y Dirección de Empresas (ADE) de la Universidad de Barcelona durante el período 2010-2015 en referencia al abandono y su evolución a lo largo del tiempo. El proceso atiende a tres aspectos fundamentales: momento y situación académica previa, motivos e impacto emocional y reingreso universitario. Se ha llevado a cabo un estudio descriptivo mediante entrevista telefónica en que han participado 225 de los 393 estudiantes que han abandonado definitivamente la carrera (un 57,3%). Los resultados confirman diferencias significativas en su valoración sobre los motivos de deserción relacionados con el año de abandono. La probabilidad de reingreso presenta también diferencias en función del año y del impacto emocional de la decisión. Se confirma la incidencia de la vía de acceso a los estudios superiores sobre el abandono y la conducta de reingreso posterior del estudiante. Se reflexiona sobre la importancia de establecer sistemas continuados de diagnóstico a lo largo de la trayectoria académica del estudiante universitario.
