The use of the Hollerith system, or mechanical tabulation, for recording forest statistics is not a new venture. However, the application of the method for such a purpose is not widespread. There are many important factors related to the use of the system which can only be brought out through actual experience. It is the object of this paper to relate the experiences, process, advantages and other important facts pertinent to the instigation and successful operation, of mechanical tabulation of forest resources by the British Columbia Forest Service.
