Abstract

Canudos: guerra y archivo. Jagunçada y povofonía en la conformación de la literatura brasileña (1893–1912) ofrece una lectura innovadora del lugar de Canudos en la historia y la literatura de Brasil. Juan Recchia Paez no solo revisita el clásico Os sertões de Euclides da Cunha, sino que lo descentra, lo entrelaza y lo reescribe a la luz de un archivo vasto y heterogéneo: desde informes militares y literatura de cordel hasta fotografías, periódicos y testimonios populares. Con el concepto de povofonia, Recchia Paez ilumina cómo emergen las voces subalternas en los textos, desafiando las jerarquías del canon y revelando una genealogía literaria que nace de la rebelión y la exclusión. En diálogo con teorías contemporáneas sobre el archivo, el testimonio y lo subalterno, este libro plantea preguntas fundamentales sobre la construcción de lo nacional, lo popular y lo moderno. Esta obra se inscribe en una crítica cultural que restituye a la literatura su potencia política, mostrando que la imaginación literaria no solo representa mundos, sino que también los disputa, los reescribe y los proyecta hacia el futuro.
