Existen dos formas tradicionales de representar iconográficamente el parto de la Virgen: el que hace alusión a un alumbramiento natural con dolor, tal y como observaremos en algunos ejemplos de este trabajo y el del parto sin dolor que analizaremos en al siguiente edición de la revista, debido a la gran cantidad de obras que alcanzan el tema de la Natividad.
