Abstract: The silos that, in the past, may have kept distance between scholarship and performance are disintegrating. Now more than ever it is possible for pianists to identify areas of interest or research, to pursue those interests, and to freely share the results of this research via a variety of media. This article will explore the spectrum of possibilities through which the scholarly activity of pianists has enriched the literature, discipline, and culture of our musical world. It also invites the reader to explore possible avenues through which they, in turn, may impact musical conversations, now and for future generations.
