Este trabalho tem como trajetória reconhecer a percepção das mulheres, que participaram da pesquisa sobre amamentação e a interferência da mesma no enfrentamento de intercorrências mamárias e no desmame precoce. O objetivo do estudo foi reconhecer a relação entre as formas de comunicação no processo gestante/ equipe do pré-natal e as dificuldades de amamentação (incluindo o desmame precoce). Os relatos desvendam as dificuldades enfrentadas pelas mulheres nesta fase tão peculiar e de grande aprendizado que é o início da lactação. Os resultados obtidos propõem o redirecionamento das orientações prestadas tendo como referencial teórico a educação problematizadora de Paulo Freire.Breast problems and the precocious wean - a comunication approachAbstractThis study contemplates the perception of the women, who had participated of the research, on the meaning of breast-feeding and the interference of this meaning in the confrontation with breast problems and its repercussion in precocious weaning. The aim of this study was to identify the support the women had received (qualitatively and quantitatively) and the established relations between the involved actors. The stories unmask the difficulties faced for the women in this peculiar phase and of great learning that is the beginning of the lactation. The gotten results consider new directions to support the breastfeeding, having as reference the theories of the Brazilian educator Paulo Freire.
