Abstract

Introdução: O food chaining é um método que visa introduzir novos alimentos na dieta de crianças neurodivergentes que possuem seletividade alimentar. Essa técnica visa aumentar a diversidade de alimentos ofertados, priorizando alimentos ricos nutricionalmente e também, promover a aceitação da criança em relação a diferentes texturas, sabores e consistências. Objetivos: Relatar a experiência de discentes do quarto semestre de Nutrição na eficácia do food chaining na introdução de novos alimentos para crianças com seletividade alimentar. Relato da Experiência: Participaram da atividade discentes do quarto semestre do curso de Nutrição. Durante a atividade, foram dispostos em uma mesa os alimentos que eram aceitos pela criança antes da aplicação do método. A proposta era ter pelo menos quatro encadeamentos diferentes, para que houvesse um estímulo progressivo à aceitação de um elemento novo na dieta do paciente. No primeiro encadeamento, os alimentos em questão tinham baixo valor nutricional, além de serem dotados de carboidratos simples, sódio e outros aditivos. A partir do segundo encadeamento, já seria possível observar mudanças gradativas, onde o alimento era semelhante ao primeiro, garantindo sucesso na aceitação da nova apresentação, mas desta vez ofertando um alimento com um maior valor nutricional agregado. Impactos: A atuação dos participantes na atividade, destacou o food chaining como técnica acessível e objetiva na introdução de novos alimentos para crianças, em especial, neurodivergentes. Conclusão: Em suma, evidencia-se que food chaining é uma técnica eficaz para expandir o repertório alimentar de crianças, em especial, com seletividade alimentar, através da aceitação gradual de novos alimentos, a partir da introdução de preparações com sabores, texturas, formas e cores, semelhantes às que já são aceitas, acarretando melhorias na interação, interesse e engajamento quanto à alimentação.
