CHEMINER SUR LA VOIE DE WAHDAT-AL-WUJUD À TRAVERS CETTE AVEUGLANTE ABSENCE DE LUMIÈRE DE TAHAR BEN JELLOUN

Abstract

Our study will focus on the presence of Sufism in the novel Cette Aveuglante absence de lumière (This Blinding Absence of Light) by Tahar Ben Jelloun, a work intertwining two subjects: politics and sacred discourse, which have deeply influenced Moroccan literature in French. The nightmarish prison of Tazmamart is a symbol of Hell for the main character and the other detainees. The great challenge is to resist by embarking on a spiritual journey, in survival mode, where many are called to make the journey, but very few will manage to pierce the Darkness and enjoy the Light through psychological strength, faith, and spirituality. This struggle leads to the opening of consciousness, this initiatory path being the heart of Islam, the true bearer of liberation, and the ascent of the soul toward the Unicity of Being.
