Investigation of a post-medieval pottery kiln in Churt undertaken in 1977. From documentary evidence the pottery appears to have been in operation from the late 17th century to the 19th century. The products were Surrey/Hampshire Border red wares and white wares with the majority of the vessel forms and the slip trailed decoration dating to c 1700-50. Sadly, the author died in 2020 before he had finished this report and, as a result, with kind permission of his widow, members of Surrey Archaeological Society have contributed to the completion of the work for publication.
