Kingshead Farm, Bromfield, Shropshire: Heritage Impact Assessment

Abstract

The Clwyd-Powys Archaeological Trust conducted a heritage impact assessment on behalf of Danagri-3S Ltd in connection with a development (16/01438/FUL) comprising a grain store, a grain intake, some holding silos and a drier at Kingshead Farm, Bromfield in Shropshire. The groundworks for the plot and the grain silos had already been completed at the time of the assessment. The assessment considered designated and undesignated assets within 500m of the development area, identifying a large number of assets within the village of Bromfield itself and Oakly Park. The potential visual impacts of the development are considered to be negligible or no change in most cases as the development is not visible from the most of the village. This study determined that there was a minor visible impact on the landscape. This was most pronounced when viewed from the early 19th-century bridge that crosses the Teme into Oakly Park, the footpath, running south-west from the bridge across Crawl Meadow and the A4113 road between Knighton and Bromfield. However, this could be mitigated by screen and other tree planting so that over time the visual impact could be no more than negligible.
