Características clínicas, diagnósticas y terapéuticas de la mucopolisacaridosis

Abstract

Introducción: las mucopolisacaridosis son un grupo de trastornos raros e innatos causados por la disfunción o ausencia de enzimas lisosomales implicadas en la degradación de mucopolisacáridos o también denominados glucosaminoglucanos. Objetivo: describir aspectos clínicos, diagnósticos y terapéuticos de la mucopolisacaridosis. Método: se realizó una revisión bibliográfica narrativa, utilizando los métodos analíticos sintetico e histórico lógico, mediante el análisis de los artículos recuperados desde las bases de datos SciELO, Scopus y ClinicalKey. Se emplearon filtros para la selección de artículos en los idiomas inglés y español; así como artículos publicados en el periodo 2018 a 2022. Se seleccionaron un total de 110 referencias que abordaban las principales características clínico epidemiológicas de la enfermedad en cuestión. Resultados: generalmente la mucopolisacaridosis, se presenta de en 1 de cada 28 000 recién nacidos vivos; es de herencia autosómica recesiva donde la mucopolisacaridosis tipo II tiene herencia ligada al cromosoma X. Las características de la mucopolisacaridosis son variadas debido a la afectación diseminada de los órganos; entre las más visibles se encuentran la baja estatura, cabeza grande, cara microscópica, labios y cejas gruesas, ojos grandes con opacidad corneal, retraso del desarrollo o psicomotor con una afectación progresiva a nivel neurológico Conclusiones: las mucopolisacaridosis son un grupo de enfermedades metabólicas hereditarias. En la mucopolisacaridosis un adecuado diagnóstico es imprescindible para mejorar la esperanza de vida de los pacientes. El tratamiento de la mucopolisacaridosis se basa en disminuir la progresión de la enfermedad con la consiguiente mejoría de la calidad de vida del paciente.
