One of the main objectives of the PowerMat work-package is the development and characterization of novel and advanced materials for demanding thermal management applications and high-energy particle accelerators. In this document, we present the comprehensive characterization campaigns performed at CERN, GSI and Polimi on a broad spectrum of advanced materials, including recent grades of Molybdenum Carbide – Graphite (MoGr), Thermal Pyrolytic Graphite (TPG), several grades of Carbon Fibre reinforced Carbon (CFC), Isotropic Graphites, Carbon Foams, Glassy Carbon (GC), Copper – Diamond (CuCD), with and without thin-film coatings.
