Family PHYLLOSTOMIDAE (NEW WORLD LEAF-NOSED BATS) • Relatively small to medium-sized bats with a usually welldevelopedfleshy noseleat above nostrils; great variation nN size. • 3.5-15. 5 cm. • Nearctic and Neotropical Regions. • Tropical rainforests, tropical dry forests, subtropical cloudforests, transformed landscapes, and deserts. • 60 genera, 217 species, 295 taxa. • 1 species Critically Endangered, 6 species Endangered, 7 species Vulnerable; none Extinct since 1600.
