Blenniidae * Coryphoblennius galerita (Linnaeus, 1758) —Montagu's blenny * Lipophrys pholis (Linnaeus, 1758) —Shanny * Lipophrys trigloides (Valenciennes, 1836) Recorded from Madeira by Zander in Whitehead et al. (1986: 1105) under the actual name, and by Bath in Quéro et al. (1990: 911-912) under the name Paralipophrys trigloides. Taxonomic decision of Almada et al. (2005). * Ophioblennius atlanticus (Valenciennes, 1836) —Redlip blenny * Parablennius incognitus (Bath, 1968) Not mentioned from Madeira by Zander in Whitehead et al., 1986: 1107) but recorded from Madeira by Bath in Quéro et al. (1990: 909) on the basis of a letter by G.E. Maul (1974). * Parablennius parvicornis (Valenciennes, 1836) —Rock-pool blenny Almada et al. (2001: 412) tentatively synonymized Parablennius parvicornis with P. sanguinolentus (Pallas, 1814). Almada et al. (2005), however, demonstrated that the two are different species due to significant genetic distance. We follow the usage of the latter paper and other authors (including Bath, 1996: 91) and consider P. parvicornis a valid species. * Parablennius ruber (Valenciennes, 1836) —Portuguese blenny
